English Pleasure - Park Horse Breeding Program

At Smoky Mountain Park Arabian Horses, we have carefully selected broodmares and stallions (including breedings to outside stallions whose names you will also recognize) with the goal of producing the very best English performance horses.

We were fortunate to begin with the acquisition of PS Afire Chief+ (Afire Bey V), winner of many English Pleasure and Park Horse awards, including both U.S. National and Canadian National Reserve Park Horse Champion. More recently, at 14 years of age, he finished Top Ten Senior Stallion at Scottsdale '08 - so has demonstrated a rare ability to perform at a high level in both halter and performance classes. "Chief's" 2008 foal crop included a colt and a filly that inherited his motion and conformation.

Following that, we purchased Ballience V (Allience+//), a very accomplished 13 year-old Park Horse who was Canadian National Reserve Champion Park Horse and who passes on his ability to his progeny. Mattice NL, a seven-year-old son, was Top Ten Park Horse at the 2007 Nationals (Tish Kondas up), Reserve Champion Park Horse at Youth Nationals and Region 12 English Pleasure Champion. He now has a new filly at SMP Arbians named Rubiyat SMP out of Simply Sinful.

In 2007, we were very excited to discover Baskghazi (Baske Afire x RY Fire Ghazi) and purchased him from Irwin Schimmel. "Boss", as we call him, is in training with Vicki Humprey for the 2008 season. "Boss" was Top Ten in the 2008 English Pleasure Futurity at Scottsdale '08. He is being bred to six of our prized broodmares for 2009 foals and we are very excited about seeing what characteristics he passes on - characteristics that include an extraordinarily long, upright neck on a 15.1 frame, great legs, motion and hock action, intelligence and a high spirit. He is truly the "whole package".

Along the way, we were blessed to find quite a few broodmares that have proven bloodlines and several of whom have won awards on their own. Escada SCA - National Champion English Pleasure AOTR 40& Over , who Carrie Woods reluctantly parted with this year, is scheduled to continue training and showing in 2008 with Jim Stachowski.

Tula Afire (Afire Bey V daughter), is in training with Tish Kondas in Newnan GA and is scheduled to debut at Region 15 in June 2008. Tula is looking like a Park Horse!

We also have an Aequus+// daughter who inherited her sire's action and 5 other Afire Bey V daughters who can contribute the "motor and motion" required to help us achieve our goals in the English Pleasure and Park Horse categories. (broodmares)
